| Caption | On February 21, 1948, the annual Pacific Northwest Boat Show & Marine Exposition opened at the Seattle Armory. Promoters boasted that this boat show was the largest in the United States. Over 100 exhibitors showcased their vessels, electronics, engines, hardware and fishing equipment. Visitors could enter a model boat contest or an art contest and could buy chances to win a Lightning sailboat.
