| Caption | In September 1941, the Seattle Police Department announced a crackdown on double parking. Truck drivers protested that they had to double park to make deliveries and suggested that all private cars be banned from downtown Seattle. After a three-day conference with labor unions and other concerned groups, the mayor exempted delivery trucks and other commercial vehicles from the ban and asked the city council to redraft the ordinance. |
