| Caption | Youngsters at Bailey Gatzert Elementary School salute the flag as part of a city-wide "I Am An American" Day celebration. The student body at this school represented many races and backgrounds at a time when wartime patriotism ran strong. A major component of the celebration was the granting of citizenship to 46 men who recently donned uniforms for the U.S. armed forces. |
