NotesTyped on verso: Meydenbauer, William Charles. 1832-1906, died in Seattle, aged 74, for whom Meydenbauer Bay was named, in 1868 took up claim on Meydenbauer Bay, rowed across from Leschi and homesteaded on a Lk. Wash. cove near present-day Bellevue, once owned 120 acres from shore to what is now Bellevue's Main Street, later built home at Hunt's [sic] Point. In 1870's was in bakery business in Seattle - Eureka Bakery. Eureka Bakery - started in 1860 by C.C. Terry and J.C. Green on east side of Commercial Street between Yesler and Washington. In 1868 purchased by Meydenbauer, called Eureka Market, for grocery stock was part of business. By 1886 was bakery and restaurant. In 1886 Meydenbauer sold it and built new bldg. at 3rd and Columbia adjacent to his residence. He operated this bakery until he retired in 1890, when he sold to the New York Baking Company.
