CaptionBorn in Ohio, Henry A. Smith trained as a doctor and then headed west in a wagon train, arriving in Seattle in 1852. He settled on the part of Queen Anne Hill that is now known as Smith Cove and did some farming and orchard-keeping in addition to his medical practice.

According to an article written by C.T. Conover in 1948, the Smith home stood at 2827 15th Avenue West, between West Barrett and West Armour Streets.
