| Title | Olympic diving medalist Georgia Coleman, probably in Seattle, 1932 |
| Photographer | Staff Photographer Seattle Post-Intelligencer |
| Date | 1932 |
| Caption | Georgia Coleman won two medals in the 1928 Olympics only six months after learning to dive. Earning more medals in national championships in springboard and platform, she went on to win two more medals, a gold and a silver, in the 1932 Olympics. After contracting polio in 1937, she learned to swim again, however, developed pneumonia and died at age twenty-eight.
In this 1932 photograph, Coleman is posing in front of an aircraft, likely during a visit to Seattle. It appears that she is wearing one of her many medals around her neck but tucked inside her coat. |
