| Caption | Donna Edgin (age 22) models the Space Needle hairdo with the real Space Needle under construction in the background. The hairdo was designed by Mr. Paul (Robert Paulson) of the Fifth Avenue Coiffure for the Washington State Hairdressers' Association annual show at the Olympic Hotel. Donna's hair was dyed blue and white then swept up around a plastic model of the Space Needle. With the six-foot tall model wearing high heels, the top of the plastic Needle reaches 8 feet 5 inches. Donna worked as a telephone operator for Howard S. Wright Construction Co., which had the Space Needle construction contract. |
