Date1943
CaptionHoused in an abandoned tavern, the Magnolia Bluff Station opened its doors on April 1, 1943. Though small, with only 3, 200 books, the first public library in the Magnolia neighborhood proved quite popular with patrons who no longer had to travel to Ballard or Queen Anne to check out and return library materials. Three librarians, each working one day a week, managed the collections and provided children's story time that drew crowds of up to 100 patrons. The library operated out of this building until June 1945 to a newly constructed space at 3414 W McGraw Street.
