| Caption | In this 1954 image, Korean War soldiers of the 2nd Division ride in a truck during a homecoming parade heading north on Seattle's Second Avenue. The truck is stopped at 815 Second Avenue, in front of the Bank of California.
The 2, 269 rotation troops arrived in Seattle aboard the Navy Transport USS General George M. Randall on November 10, 1954. With the crew and troops eager to get home in time for Thanksgiving, the ship made the crossing from Pusan, Korea to Seattle in 10 days, 4 hours, and 17 minutes. The Northern Route crossing normally takes 12 to 14 days. |
