| Title | Cinerama premiering at the Paramount Theater, Seattle, 1956 |
| Photographer | Vallentyne, John Seattle Post-Intelligencer |
| Date | 1956 |
| Caption | In the 1950s, a new motion picture projection technique called Cinerama was introduced. Involving synchronized multiple projectors and a huge curved screen, the effect was intended to pull the audience into the on-screen action. Seattle's Paramount Theater was converted in 1956 to show the new technique. In this opening night shot, one can see that even the theater's name was replaced with the word Cinerama in neon. |
