| Title | Halibut fishermen at Fishermen's Terminal, Seattle, July 1, 1947 |
| Photographer | Davis, Harvey Seattle Post-Intelligencer |
| Date | 1947 |
| Caption | The end of the Halibut Fishermen's strike stirred the deep sea fishermen to hurried preparation for their return to the halibut banks off the Southwestern Alaskan coast. Here the 'Coolidge' is shown taking on ice for preservation of her catch.
The two-month strike of the Deep Sea Fishermen's Union against the Fishing Vessel Owners' Association ended on July 1, 1947. The settlement calls for a boat's share of the catch to be 21 percent, and the fishermen will share the owners' cost of fathometer rent. The fleet expects to catch the remaining 23 million pounds of the 28 million pound limit in this area before the season ends November 1. |
