| Title | Rita Roberts fishing for trout, July 1941 |
| Photographer | Staff Photographer Seattle Post-Intelligencer |
| Date | 1941 |
| Caption | Mountain streams in Washington state are home to rainbow trout, cutthroat, brook trout and other species of game fish. The sports pages commonly included news about local sports fishing. A photograph of someone holding up 'the big one' often appeared with the fishing update. In July 1941, a Seattle Post-Intelligencer photographer snapped this photo of Rita Roberts catching a trout in an unidentified Washington stream. Although this picture never appeared in print, it portrays a Northwest tradition in jeopardy today. |
| Notes | Handwritten on negative: Rita Roberts.
