| Caption | When the E.C. Hughes School opened in 1926, it had nine rooms and 206 pupils. Four years later, when this photo was taken, the school looked basically the same, but by 1949 an addition had to be built to hold the growing student body. Hughes was closed in 1989 but has been used as a temporary site for other West Seattle schools during times of construction. |
