TitleInterlake School, Seattle, 1911
PhotographerWebster & Stevens
Date1911
CaptionWhen the Interlake School was constructed in 1904, the Wallingford neighborhood was growing very rapidly. The architect designed an addition in the central rear section that was built four years later. The name of the school refers to its location midway between Lake Union and Green Lake. In the 1920s, Interlake was the largest elementary school in Seattle. It closed in 1971 and was used for a few years as an annex to Lincoln High School. The building was designated a city landmark in 1981 and is now leased for a retail center.
NotesHandwritten on sleeve: Interlake School (Ext), 1911.
