Contextual NotesJ. Wilbur Sandison was born in Ontario, Canada. He became a photographer when he moved to Vancouver, B.C. in 1899 and subsequently worked in both California and Hawaii. In 1904 he moved to Bellingham and opened a studio which he operated until around 1926.
