| Historical Notes | Charles H. Baker was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 30, 1864. He worked for the Seattle, Lake Shore and Eastern Railroad where he developed the plan to harness the energy of Snoqualmie Falls. Baker convinced his father, William T. Baker, to lend him money to begin the Snoqualmie Falls Power Company and the plant opened in July 1899. Baker was forced to sell the plant in 1903 when his father passed away. Charles Baker photographed the Snoqualmie Falls Power Company for the Commercial Club of Chicago when they came to visit in March, 1901. The images were presented to the Chicago Club in a souvenir album and documented their visit. |
