| Notes | On verso: Bell System Exhibit, Seattle World's Fair -- A full-sized model of the United States' first satellite, Vanguard I, is a part of the Bell System exhibit at the Seattle World's Fair. Bell System hostess Linda Colwell explains how two Bell Laboratories inventions -- the Bell Solar Battery and transistors -- contributed to Vanguard I's success. The satellite's dependable voice -- still operating more than four years after it was placed in orbit -- is expected to continue through its estimated lifetime of some 200 years.
The Century 21 Exposition took place between April 21 and October 21, 1962 and is also known as the Seattle World's Fair.
