Contextual NotesDenny Hill stood in the area now known as Belltown in Seattle's downtown. Attempts to regrade or flatten the landscape to make the land and resulting businesses more profitable started in earnest about 1900. The regrade initiated by the City of Seattle in 1904 lowered Second Avenue in the Denny Hill area between Pike Street and Cedar Street.
