Floating pumice and logs on Spirit Lake
Floating pumice and logs on Spirit Lake
TitleFloating pumice and logs on Spirit Lake
PhotographerZoller, William
PublisherUniversity of Washington. Dept. of Chemistry
Date of photograph1980-04
Site locationSpirit Lake (Wash.)
NotesSlide shows floating pumice and logs on the shore of Spirit Lake. The helicopter landed here so we could get a water sample. We didn't realize that all of that was floating pumice and logs; we thought it was actually the lake shore. So, when Bill Zoller stepped over to get a water sample, he fell right in to the water underneath that floating pumice, and got soaked. We never did get a water sample. There was no shore at that time on this area of Sprit Lake.
