Printed on verso is a description of Hungary's geography, its regions and customs on pages 27 and 28: "The Description of the Kingdome of Hungary. It is not without example of good authoritie, if I take into this Description, not only that part which is now more peculiarly knowne by the name of Hungarie…."
Shows Hungary and borders with Moravia, Austria, Bosnia and Transylvania. Shows major and minor rivers and bodies of water, mountains, forests and pictorial cities including Lake Balton and the Danube River.

| Contextual Notes | John Speed (1552-1629) was an English historian, cartographer and tailor. His most famous work was "County Maps of England Wales" which he began in 1603 and published as "Theatre of Empire Great Britain" (1611, 1614, 1627, 1632, 1646, 1650-62, 1676). He was also the first Englishman to produce a world atlas, titled "A Prospect of the Most Famous Parts of the World" (1627) (Tooley, 591; Moreland and Bannister, 148-150).
This map was included in "A Prospect of the Most Famous Parts of the World" published in 1627 by George Humble and engraved by Amsterdam engraver, Abraham Goos (fl. 1614-1643).(
