| Caption | The Seattle University Chieftains beat Gonzaga 108-88 in a cross-state battle at the Seattle Center Coliseum. Following the victory, the Chieftains were invited to play in the Far West regional tournament. In the previous decade, SU basketball teams played in eight NCAA tournaments, reaching the finals in 1958 with Elgin Baylor as top scorer. |
