| Caption | Seattle's 1913 Golden Potlatch, the distant ancestor of the Seafair festival, opened on July 16. For the next several days, Seattle residents and visitors were treated to parades, an air show, a battleship spotlight drill, water sports and numerous other events. This 1913 Potlatch festival photo, taken on Lake Washington, shows a man riding an aquaplane pulled by a motorboat. Aquaplanes were an early type of water ski. |
