CaptionThe Boeing 314 Clipper was a long-range flying boat produced by the Boeing Airplane Company between 1938 and 1941. Even though only 12 Boeing Clipper 314s were ever manufactured, they remain one of Boeing's most famous aircrafts. Built for Pan-American Airlines, the 314 Clipper had a gross weight of 82, 000 pounds, a wingspan of 152 feet and a range of nearly 5, 000 miles. The Clipper provided unparalleled luxury for 70 passengers (40 in a sleeper configuration). The cabin included a lounge, dining salon, men's and women's dressing rooms, and even a bridal suite! During the war the Pan-American Clippers were requisitioned by the Navy to carry supplies such as ammunition and raw materials.
