| Caption | The SS West Elcasco was a steel-hulled cargo ship built in 1918 by Skinner & Eddy Corp. shipyard in Seattle—one of a series built by Skinner & Eddy for the United States Shipping Board's emergency wartime shipbuilding program. The ship saw service as an auxiliary with the U.S Navy in World War I and as an Army transport in World War II. The West Elcasco launched on September 21, 1918. |
