| Photographer | Webster & Stevens |
| Date | ca. 1928 |
| Caption | The University of Washington completed the cathedral-like Unit 1 of its library in about 1926. President Suzzallo believed that the library should be the focus of the university, inspiring both mind and spirit. It had shelving for 200, 000 books and a large upstairs reading room with tall windows and seating for 750 readers. This photo shows the oldest part of the University of Washington's library complex. It is now called Suzzallo Library, after the man who influenced its design. |
