| Caption | Boeing's first B-29 crashed into the Frye meat packing plant while on a test flight, killing all eleven on board. The flames spread through the building causing 21 more deaths and many more injuries. Most of the livestock at the meat packing plant perished in the blaze. Due to wartime news censorship, the newspaper did not identify the type of plane or run any photos showing details of the craft.
