Contextual NotesThis black pine tree is called Karasaki no matsu and is from Karasaki in Omi Town on the coast of the Sea of Japan, in central Honshu. It is said that this particular pine tree grew from a seed that the 13th lord of Kaga clan obtained from Karasaki.
