Vintage 19th c. marbled paper, Turkish antiqued pattern
Vintage 19th c. marbled paper, Turkish antiqued pattern
TitleVintage 19th c. marbled paper, Turkish antiqued pattern
Artistunknown
Date19th century
Descriptive NotesWolfe and Muira: Turkish antiqued pattern.

This pattern is created the same as a normal Turkish pattern is done. Once that is complete, a final step is to sprinkle the bath with medium to fine white (usually) drops of color, making it ‘antiqued.'

The primary colors for this example are teal, blue, black and red.

Collection NotesThe flat sample from which this photo was scanned is a salvaged endsheet. There is no record of the original item from which these endsheets were taken. Information regarding creation dates has therefore been estimated (using Wolfe), typically by century.
