Fortson is slightly more than twenty miles east of Arlington, in north central Snohomish County. Established in 1896, it was named for Capt. George H. Fortson three years later. On March 26, 1899, he was killed at Passig Bridge in the Philippines during the Spanish American War.
This particular locomotive was built in March 1910. It was a Class B locomotive weighing 71,000 pounds. It was built for McCaughey Mill Company and its shop number was 2294.
