| Contextual Notes | Waldo Lake, at eastern edge of Lane County, was named after John Brekenridge Waldo (b. 1844; d. 1907). Waldo served as chief justice of the Oregon Supreme Court and as a member of the Oregon Legislature. As a member of the Oregon Legislature, he was instrumental in getting President Grover Cleveland to preserve hundreds of miles of mountains and forest in Oregon's Cascade Range. |
