Contextual NotesFlat is a settlement on Otter Creek, 7 miles east of the Otter Creek junction with Iditarod River, 59 miles northeast of Holy Cross. It was first reported in 1910 as a mining camp, at which time it was the leading settlement on Otter Creek, with a population of about 400. [Source: Donald Orth.
