NotesPicture was printed in Voice of the Valley on April 18, 1984, with the following caption: This picture of the Maple Valley-Hobart Cemetery along S.E. 208th was taken in 1900 at the burial of Charles Fennel, who was said to have been homesteading just west of the present Nieman Bee Farm prior to his death. In the picture are Charles' wife, Mary, and two daughters, Ada Slaughter and Emma Peterson, who live in Seattle and still bring flowers and donate to the care of the cemetery each year. The Fennel cemetery plot is just east inside the east gate driveway. The lady to the left is Mrs. Frank (Emma) Anderson, sister of Charles Fennel and mother of Carl and Oscar Anderson of Hobart -- Photo donated by the Maple Valley Historical Society.
