| Title | Railroad car and cottages at the Big Four Inn, ca.1920s |
| Photographer | Unknown |
| Date | ca. 1920s |
| Caption | In the 1920s, Bethel and Wyatt Rucker built the Hartford & Eastern Railway to connect their mining, lumber and real estate interests east of Everett, Washington. The gasoline-powered train started at Hartford, passed through the farmlands near Granite Falls, climbed through the rocky mountainsides along the Stilliguamish River to the Big Four Inn and reached the end of the line at Monte Cristo. This photographic postcard, probably made during the 1920s, shows one of the cars of the Hartford & Eastern Railway standing near the cottages at the Big Four Inn. |
