CaptionTheatergoers eagerly await entry into the Metropolitan Theatre at 415 University Street. The December 4, 1954 show was an historic event; the curtain closed for the last time after Helen Hayes' performance in "What Every Woman Knows." After thirty years of being engulfed by the Olympic Hotel, the 1911-vintage theater was demolished in 1956 to make way for the hotel's motorcar entrance.
