Contemporary full leather over oak boards, sewn on 7 alternating double and single vegetal cords.
Leather on spine wrapped around single cord at head and tail, stitched down to form a headband.
Evidence of decorated brass clasps still extant. Original corner pieces and central medallion on front cover missing. Brass nails still extant. Back cover had 4 round bosses, now missing. Back cover with 2 holes at the top edge showing a chained binding.
Both covers tooled in blind, each with a different pattern. Front cover: severely water-damaged, making decorative pattern difficult to discern and impossible to photograph. Front cover indicates Anton Koberger style of binding. Vine patterns with central medallion. Title? at top of front cover. Blind rules enclose vine pattern. In panels on each side of vine pattern are diamond shapes with a pierced heart. Some insect damage. Back Cover: series of geometric panels with blind-tooled lines. Central panel has medallions and the diamond shape that appears on front cover. To the right and left of the central panel is a series of asymmetrical tooling in blind.
Paper label with calligraphed title on spine, plus 3 different historical shelf labels.

Illumination at the beginning of the text of vol.1 with gold, colors, and marginal decoration. Extensive rubrication throughout both volumes.
