The following information was provided by respondents to requests for information from UW Week "Lost & Found Films" series, 2009-10.
Fata Padgitt RN, Harborview Medical Center wrote: It looks to me as though they may have been hoping to monitor the wave pattern created by his respirations.
Dan Harrison in Dr. Sanders Prosthetics Lab wrote: My guess is that the white lab coat man probably is in Cardiology, Bioengineering or APL Dept. The inks probably contain metals that they would hope would be sensitive to electrical cardiac muscle activity, such that they may visualize cardiac performance. Perhaps the room might suggest which building the experiment was performed
Jack Reid of Issaquah wrote that he had a "dim memory of the experiment" and that it was to possibly identify something about heart function. He also thought that the changes in the moire pattern shows even small amounts of motion of the chest wall.
