| Notes | Babi Yar is a ravine in northwest Kiev, where in only two days of mass shootings, September 28-29, 1941, over 30, 000 Jews were murdered by the Nazi forces of occupation. The murder of Jews in Babi Yar continued until the end of the German occupation. During the Soviet period Babi Yar was memorialized only in music (Shostakovich), in literature (Anatoly Kuznetsov), and poetry (Yevgeny Yevtushenko) |
