| Description | Double-headed barrel drum from Sunda. The drum body is painted a deep red with much of the paint chipping away. The two heads made of goatskin are strung together with thick pieces of leather. There are several small, braided, leather rings that connect the leather strings together to keep the heads of the drum taut. There is a small piece of red rope tied to the side of the instrument as a handle. There is also a small hole in the side of the drum that is consistent with all the other drums of this type in our collection. This instrument has the word "Dân" written in black felt pen on the small head of the instrument. |
