Contextual NotesRie Cramer was born in Sukabumi on Java and then moved to The Netherlands at age nine. She attended the Art Academy in The Hague and began her career with the illustrated book 'Van Meisjes en Jongetjes' in 1906. She designed stage sets, costumes, and ceramics, and wrote poetry, radio plays, and novels. She also wrote plays under the pseudonym Marc Holman.
