| Contextual Notes | Ann and Jane Taylor were English poets and novelists who came from an extensive literary family. Their father was an engraver, their mother wrote books of moral and religious advice, and their two brothers also wrote. The two sisters often published their early works together and without attribution which has led to confusion about the authorship of some works, often to the advantage of Jane. |
