A variety of birds and animals are described from the mundane cow and cock to the more exotic crocodile and cuckoo. Each description is accompanied by an illustration and a short verse. The descriptions often have biblical references.
Page 15 depicts "The Whale." Printed below the illustration: The whale's the monarch of the main (as is the lion of the plain:) He keeps the lesser fish in awe, And, tyrant-like, his will's his law. The description of the whale describes the story of Jonah and the whale.
