NotesShort illustrated verses about good and bad children. Unlike other cautionary tales, most of these verses do not provide horrific examples of the consequences of disobedience but instead gently chide children for misbehaving.
In "Honour" two young boys are playing ball and break a window. Instead of running away, they are honest and honorable and offer to pay for the damage.
Contextual NotesElizabeth Turner also wrote The Daisy, a very successful book of cautionary stories.
