A variety of calamities plagued the railroad. It was costly to maintain and frequently succumbed to blizzards and avalanches. By late 1910 the project was running low on funds. New rail could not be added and maintenance of existing rail and equipment could not be done. Soon, only a gasoline speeder operated on the track.
