Building NotesBoth Charles H. Bebb and Carl F. Gould came into their partnership having already established themselves in their respective fields as individuals and members of highly successful design teams. Joining their complementary strengths, Bebb and Gould became associates in 1914 with the agreement that Bebb would act as engineer and partner in charge of management, contracts and specifications, and Gould as principal designer and planner. In the early decades of the 20th century, Bebb & Gould flourished, designing over two hundred projects, churches, civic buildings, homes, commercial structures and monuments. These designs took on a variety of architectural styles, depending on the wishes of the client, siting, and financial considerations. Hayes and Hayes Bankers of Aberdeen, WA hired Gould to design a new bank building, but the bank failed in 1927 before the project was built.
