| Building Notes | Henry W. Bittman's prolific practice contributed over 250 designs for both civic and business groups throughout Washington and Alaska. Bittman, trained as an engineer, came to Seattle in 1906 and two years later had his own structural engineering practice, which specialized in the design of structural steel skeletons for high-rise buildings. In 1923, Henry Bittman was licensed as an architect in Washington state, and soon became known for his commercial architecture. The Monte Cristo Hotel opened in 1925 with 140 rooms, a ballroom, and conference room areas. |
