| Notes | Note taken from a document of unknown origin accompanying some of Harry Hall's photographs: Merrill & Ring, Pysht. A typical track side. In the foreground a duplex loading donkey. In the background the yarding donkey. The spar tree has two sets of guy lines -- 6 top guys, and six buckle guys. Jacks for the duplex loader are adjusted on two buckle guys to position loading lines directly over each end of the rail car. The yarder is just bringing in a log to the 'landing.' Note the safety strap between the bull block and one of the top guys. This was a precaution that allowed the bull block to be carried down the top guy in the event the bull block strap parted. In this way the bull block and the main line would be directed away from the loaders and the chaser working at the base of the tree.
